ADOC officials tell reporter that her skirt is too short to witness execution

ADOC officials just told a reporter that her skirt is too short to witness the execution. Other reporters were able to find her pants to wear.

In other news…

Here's the story she wrote about the execution:

Here is the fully updated and finished version of what happened tonight, with details about the execution, the family's reaction, and what we know about the delay.

rejecting the shoes is closer to fetishistic sexual perversion.

i'm glad this young lady was able to do her job despite this insanity. (as if the lethal injection were not insane enough.)

First, who in the hell would want to "view" an execution? How sick is that?

Second, Alabama has gone absolutely taliban.

They all should have been executed, and made the world a better place.

I would think that an execution would be one of those, as medIa would report on any abnormalities or exceptional circumstances

In New England, that was standard fare in public or in school settings. Women and girls regularly subjected to wardrobe correction, even to the point of physically forcing you out of the room or building and/or calling the cops. Regularly.

Skirt too short, not allowed to even wear pants, appropriate stockings and shoes, no bare midriff or waist, nothing sleeveless, wrong hair-do for the occasion... it was the American taliban, xtian oriented. And I'm not talking catholic schools either. This happened in stores, restaurants, you name it, if some white person made a stink about you and you weren't pearly white, you were subject to all kinds of abuse that was okay with the "village".

Alabama is still there.

ago I was having a conversation about the pressure for rigid conformity in the '50's and into the '60's. I touched on the topic of short skirts in school when I was a kid. Short was defined in our school area as follows: The girl was made to kneel on the floor and if her skirt did not touch the floor it was too short and she would either have to lower it or be sent home. This check of her clothing was usually done by the male principal or vice-principal taking her out into the hallway and performing the "check" in full view of her classmates. In my school most girls were sent home with a letter from the school. The school administration/school board attitude was that they weren't going to have "that kind of girl" in their school. Most of the girls I ever saw sent home "failed the test" by way less than an inch or so. But never did they question the daughters of the mayor, police chief or other big shots.

As you said this was common stuff. Take the girl out and humiliate her in front of her classmates. Conformity in America. I remember an episode where two lesbian students (honestly we hadn't even heard the word or had any idea of things except to call boys "queer" in a taunting way) during lunch hour had gone into a secluded area. The vice-principal spotted them and came and got 3 boys to go with him but didn't tell the boys what it was about. So he took them by surprise with their male classmates standing there gawking at them. The girls were marched out into the school lobby for all to see while the cops were called and two squad cars took the girls home. They never returned to school. Conformity and pressure.

If the skirt didn't touch the floor, the principal sent you home.

Also no pants were allowed.

We are going back to those days.

But wasn't this the execution of a developmentally disabled man? Lets start there. And who the hell wears a short skirt and heels to view this atrocity? Fashion isn't needed at tragedy.

was capital punishment is a terrible scourge in our society. The prisoner had a very low IQ and should not have been executed. It was too bad the press attendee was embarrassed by officials, but don't you tbink most good democrats believe capital punishment is terrible? Her embarrassment was much overshadowed by that fact. And sweetie, I've been a Democrat since I worked for the Kennedy campaign. Guess my creds are as good as yours.

However, it would appear the point of this particular thread is the pure audacity and mysogeny of anyone, any place, any time telling a woman how to dress. I presume her genitals weren't on display. And you piled right on with shaming her, sight unseen. Shame on you. What business of yours is it what any woman wears any place or any time?

But, hey, I could be wrong. And you have no idea what my "creds" are or my age, babe. But I have been a Democrat my whole life, kiddo. And I would never dream of shaming a woman for her apparel. ESPECIALLY if I hadn't even seen it with my own eyes. SMH

YMMV

Women will now be harassed about their clothing choices.

Some of us older women keep trying to warn everyone about where this is going.
And we are told to get a grip and calm down.

old. Joe Nathan James Jr, followed his ex-girlfriend to her friends house, once there he shot her 3-times killing her. He was convicted and given the death penalty. The victims family all these years later believe he was sincerely remorseful, they all pleaded with Alabamas' Governor, asking him to commute the sentence to life in prison.

"THIS SEEMED LIKE AN EXTREMELY HARSH SENTENCE CONSIDERING ALL THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THIS CASE!"
