Survey of GOP voters shows high unfavorable ratings for Roy Moore

A survey of voters likely to participate in the Republican primary for the U.S. Senate next year showed most respondents had an unfavorable opinion of former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore.

The polling firm Cygnal released the results today of the survey of 612 likely GOP primary voters conducted June 22-23.

Moore announced his candidacy for the Senate seat held by Sen. Doug Jones on June 20.

Respondents to the Cygnal survey were asked their opinions of several other GOP candidates for the Senate seat -- U.S. Rep. Bradley Byrne of Fairhope, former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville, Secretary of State John Merrill, and state Rep. Arnold Mooney of Shelby County.
