Examine Russia but Americans must examine their pathology for electing Trump

Today I read a striking editorial in the Los Angeles Times. While it will seem like a condemnation of Trump as it acknowledged the fact that he is a con man, the culprits are the American people. The editorial weaves the authors country of origin and America's role in corrupting their elections and the disastrous consequences as a proffer.

Until they acknowledge and denounce their idiot racist fuckheadedness, no deeper understanding of them is required.

While it is true trump won NEITHER the popular vote or the EC, being obvious that on the ground KGB agents were flipping votes on election day since we know there are more of us than them, or at a minimum millions of minority voters were prevented from voting, etc.

They did manage to steal the election which means almost 50% of the voting public chose an obvious liar, thief and idiot. He is not a conman, a conman has skills and intellect, trump has neither.

much of it completely incredible and absurd, but people actually believed it. So why are so many Americans so gullible? There's certainly an aspect of confirmation bias, but some of the disinformation was so obviously ridiculous (a child sex ring operating out of a pizza shop? Really?) that even if people were predisposed to believe negative info about Clinton, why were they so susceptible to obvious nonsense?
