The real reason they took out most deductions in the tax plan.

To weaken unions by taking out Form 2106 deductions. This is the area that you would deduct union dues and other job related expenses.

To do so they had to camouflage it by taking most deductions out.

I do think unions are a target as are all working people so they are piling on.

Time will tell if my professional opinion is correct, but suffice it to say I have already forewarned one union’s board members.

They were floored as they have not had anyone talk to them about it. It will, in my opinion, significantly affect retention on their committees.

yes, they're happy to see that deduction go, but they also enjoy being cruel to many of us.

they like reducing the salt deductions because they enjoy being cruel to blue-staters, for instance.

they've got a long list of people to be cruel too, unions should not feel special.

4. Form 2106 is a big part of my tax return.

Union dues are a chunk of that, but I have a lot of other employee business expenses that aren’t going away just because they are no longer deductible.

Maybe I can become a business so I can enjoy the great new corporate tax rate and all my former deductions as well.
