(39,377 posts)than standing up for Franken. He will not rescind his resignation and Manchin knows it. Hes basically making the case for a more deliberative process next time a borderline case like this comes up, which is fine by me. Good politics if youre Manchin, IMO.

(39,405 posts)took a legitimate issue like #metoo, and rather than do investigative work, took what they were fed about recognized names, and repeated it ad nauseum.
Some of the stuff against Franken was probably true, but did he threaten to fire anyone if they didn't accept his advances or even reprimand them?
If someone had said they were uncomfortable at the time he did those things, how did he respond? If they didn't say, how can you imagine him responding if they did?
Hollywood is a kind of touchy-feely culture. When I worked for a female producer who was much older, she would sometimes greet me by kissing me on the lips, and the kiss on the cheek or air kiss was de rigueur.
That doesn't justify grabbing someone's ass or slipping them the tongue, but other remedies are possible for some of the lesser offenses.
