(19,566 posts)If anyone of our local snark artists wants to have some fun and get tons of likes and laughs for their effort, follow this account. Lets face it, when youre feeling down a bunch of total strangers getting a laugh at your joke helps lift your mood.
Theyve been ramping up their political innuendo since January, and its increasingly fun to play there. Even if you dont engage and play along its a fun account.
I never got to see the play. Now Im increasingly sad about my loss.

But then, I usually do keyword or name searches on Twitter, don't just follow accounts. Usually I'll start with Trump's account to see if he's posted any more idiocies since the last check, then search for his name to see news stories and tweets about him, then do other searches.
But some favorites:
Laurence Tribe? @tribelaw https://twitter.com/tribelaw
John Schindler @20committee https://twitter.com/20committee
Kyle Griffin? @kylegriffin1 https://twitter.com/kylegriffin1
Ted Lieu? @tedlieu https://twitter.com/tedlieu

These 3 are a great read and all devastate The Trump wing of the Republican party better than most Democrats I follow.
But Twitter is much, much more than politics. I have interests in spaceflight, nuclear weapons history, and history of the Soviet Union, and the Romonovs. Whatever your interests you will find like minded people who post tons of great articles, news, and information. Twitter is my favorite, soooo much interesting info that you gear to yourself.
People who bad mouth Twitter and/or are afraid of Twitter Bots don't use Twitter and have little idea how it works.

seem to have a very sober understanding of what's going on on the right. They're without any "oh, hopefully they'll do the right thing in the end" illusions about just how potentially ruthless and dangerous the people currently wielding power have become. And, of course, both are very well connected.
But I don't follow anyone routinely, rather, like HighPlainsDem, search topics I'm interested in. I'm undoubtedly missing out on some good entertainment, but I use Twitter almost exclusively to see what smart, involved people are talking about in the realms of the social sciences.

If you want to keep up, I would suggest following some lesser-known-but-still-legit reporters. You don't need to follow many as reporters tend to tweet @ and about each other. Try to follow at least one reporter that covers your state or town.
Also, follow a few comedians because, as above, if you follow one, you follow them all.
Follow a Twitter account that's wacky or esoteric-ish like @ProBirdRights or @billwurtz because strange is good for the soul.
If you want to know what the Orange Man tweets but can't stand him, follow @RealPressSecBot - an account that takes his tweets and posts them as if they were press releases.
My most important suggestion is to create a Twitter list or two. That way, you don't have to read all the tweets from all the users you follow - just the ones that really interest you. You can change the members of your list whenever it suits you.
For example, I follow Malcolm Nance but, frankly, his tweets are too fucking depressing and he posts too often, so, he's not on one of my lists.

(4,035 posts)@AngryBlackLady,
@JoyAnnReid,
@karnythia and
@bravenak, to get the viewpoint of someone who *isn't* a white man. They have good comments, funny threads, hit hard on trolls, and despise trump. They refuse to kowtow to the white majority, and they are unafraid and more than willing to point out when we white women need to listen.
@shakestweet for her incisive commentary. She is practically a cassandra - she saw the dangers of trump long before most others had stopped laughing at him, and she takes no prisoners and gives no quarters in her fight for equality.
