From this morning:
President Trumps son-in-laws real estate company has a reputation of siccing lawyers on tenants who are late with the rent but it doesnt seem to pay its own bills on time.
A law firm that represented Jared Kushners real estate company in dozens of eviction and housing court cases is now suing the company, saying it is owed more than $100,000 for legal work from two years ago.
The law team Cornicello, Tendler & Baumel-Cornicello filed a lawsuit in Manhattan Supreme Court on Dec. 7 against Kushner Cos. and 19 of its subsidiaries that own or manage properties. Cornicello seeks $102,000 for work it did between December 2014 and May 31, 2015.

Top lawyers with at least four major law firms rebuffed White House overtures to represent President Trump in the Russia investigations, in part over concerns that the president would be unwilling to listen to their advice, according to five sources familiar with discussions about the matter.
The unwillingness of some of the countrys most prestigious attorneys and their law firms to represent Trump has complicated the administrations efforts to mount a coherent defense strategy to deal with probes being conducted by four congressional committees as well as Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller.

But a consistent theme, the sources said, was the concern about whether the president would accept the advice of his lawyers and refrain from public statements and tweets that have consistently undercut his position.
The concerns were, The guy wont pay and he wont listen, said one lawyer close to the White House who is familiar with some of the discussions between the firms and the administration, as well as deliberations within the firms themselves.

(51,623 posts)has done in his own Real Estate businesses. But I thought that this was in Baltimore and not NY. Has he done it in both? The NY AG and Baltimore AG can try the two even if they are pardoned. Will the NY AG get Kushner too? YEAH state AGs! Lock THEM up!

(13,526 posts)"Kushner Cos. has amassed a large real estate empire in the city one that includes the skyscraper at 666 Fifth Ave. and rental units in the East Village and Brooklyn Heights.
Jared Kushner stepped down as the companys CEO in January to become a senior White House adviser to Trump. While he no longer runs the firm, he still owns it and many of the beefs over the conditions of his apartments came while he was in charge."
...and I got to think Mr. Schneiderman has at least heard of this punk at some point??

And, of course, Mueller will already have Jared begging for mercy and asking Donnie The Con for a pardon (that won't do him any good).

(82,849 posts)Most law firms will run a mile to avoid suing their clients for non-payment. It's bad publicity for the firm and for the client, and it usually happens only after the client has either broken promises to pay or dodged the lawyer seeking payment. A hundred thousand should be chump change to the Kushner Companies, but for some reason, they can't pungle it up. I wonder why? Any enterprising reporters want to dig into this?
