There's something -- maybe lots of somethings -- that DT's team was horrified to learn escaped with the emails. So they're arguing that Mueller improperly read them.
But according to Mueller's office's statement, there are only two choices: he got them through "appropriate criminal process" or he got the "account owner's consent."
(To be fair, GSA written policy appears to make the GSA the owner of all documents produced on its equipment, so that might have been how Mueller got hold of them so easily.)

Asked about Langhofer's letter and Loewentritt's statements and after publication of this story a spokesperson for the Special Counsel's Office, Peter Carr, told BuzzFeed News, When we have obtained emails in the course of our ongoing criminal investigation, we have secured either the account owners consent or appropriate criminal process.

d. Information ownership . All documents, images and messages composed, sent, received or stored on GSA - provided equipment remain the property of the GSA .
9. Monitoring . GSA IT continuously monitors use of GSA telecommunications . GSA may audit a users telecommunications usage at any time. The CIO P 2100.1I G SA IT Security Policy states:
a. Obtaining access to GSA resources must constitute acknowledgment that monitoring activities may be conducted.
b. Users have no expectation of privacy on GSA IT systems. All activity on GSA IT systems is subject to monitoring.

(5,730 posts)Repubs always thrive on anger, but it is out of control now. WTF do they have to be angry about? As you said, they are separated from reality. Whether it is the blue collar Dem waiting for Trump to bring back obsolete technology (rather than provide retraining, as Hillary promised); the RW nationalist stoking fear and rage about a reality they themselves created; or the extreme wealthy crying about grave robbers taxing them in their graves.

(108,990 posts)It manages to suggest criminal activity, while leaving open the possibility that the owner of the emails -- which would be the GSA -- simply handed them over.

(16,254 posts)But, then...they have also become accustomed to us falling for their lies. Well, Republicans...those days are over. I will never believe anything you say, no matter what. You are like children who lie to get themselves out of trouble. Do it enough and you have to prove you have grown up and learned your lesson for a long time before anyone will believe a word you say.

(58,785 posts)well, like being themselves. They're astonishingly incompetent, too ignorant even to ask questions. I'm guessing any midlevel career staffer could have given them a heads-up on that one, also likely 50,000 or so government clerks. WHO owns data stored there is about as basic as it comes.
But then they also thought they had their own "fixer" inside for whatever. Turns out they should at least have replaced him when he went and died on them.

(32,086 posts)Wow!!! They are even more stupid and ignorant than I thought. And, I didn't think they could get any more stupid. I could see maybe the Trump throwbacks being that ignorant, but everyone else around them? These imbeciles probably still don't even know what is the GSA.
I used to say that nothing about these assholes surprises me anymore. I was wrong. I am shocked at the depths of their stupidity and ignorance. I understand how their cult followers could be that ignorant, but these assholes have been dealing with the federal government all their adult lives. How could they not know stuff like this??? They really do believe they are above it all, don't they? They are in for a really, really, really rude awakening.
