Any arguments for net neutrality?

A friend of mine is on the fence about net neutrality and is entertaining arguments for and against on Facebook. He doesn't want any fearmongering. Does anyone have good arguments for net neutrality? How about sources/articles for it?

Sure. You can certainly argue that you don't want your ISP deciding what Internet content... PoliticAverse Dec 2017 #2

If you trust for profit mega corps like Verizon, Comcast and ATT to look out for your best interests then you're fine. If not, you're for net neutrality.

you see or don't see or prioritize the delivery of content based on what site you are at.

Note that net neutrality doesn't address important issues like competition for the last mile (if you only
have one provider choice and they charge more than you can afford you won't be getting any content)
and it also doesn't address issues like bandwidth or data caps (data caps penalize video video delivery
and aren't addressed by net neutrality)

What the specific issues that emerged that spurred the net neutrality act in the first place?

The Internet should be democratic, with all content treated equally, just like the phone lines. Companies should not determine what to speed up, slow down, or eliminate entirely.

stay with it through 1:40 - it starts out with interruptions - that is part of the problem! (not really a cat video)

The internet has made everyone "publishers." This idiotic ruling will not only allow ISPs to control speed, it will also allow them to control content. Next step? Spying on you!
