U.S. judge to lift house arrest for former Trump campaign manager Manafort

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-russia-manafort/u-s-judge-to-lift-house-arrest-for-former-trump-campaign-manager-manafort-idUSKBN1E92OG?il=0

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A U.S. District Court judge on Friday said she would release former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort from house arrest once he meets certain conditions, expressing satisfaction that the $10 million he agreed to forfeit if he ever failed to appear for court proceedings would be available.

In her order, Judge Amy Berman Jackson said Manafort, who is facing charges including money laundering and failing to register as a foreign agent, would be subject to a curfew and electronic GPS monitoring, among other restrictions.

the likelihood of frozen accounts and also too this:

Countries Without an Extradition Treaty with the US

Mauritania, Micronesia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Niger, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Rwanda, Samoa, São Tomé & Príncipe, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Vatican, Vietnam and Yemen.

I grant you, Russia and Ukraine are on there....but those guys can be fickle, and--hmmm--not very trustworthy. Especially towards potential embarrassments.

Snowden wanted to go there, but ended up in Russian instead. Let's not forget the POS who has been stuck inside the Ecuadorian embassy in the UK either.

That little cardbook book does not possess the magic power to prevent you from entering a country that wants to let you in.

Although I've always needed my little magic cardboard book to get on an international flight, and also to cross borders. If Mexico wants him, good luck to him.

Also too: I said "possible." But thanks for the education.

...and your friend takes you somewhere that wants you, you don't need a passport.

It's not only "possible", it's dead bang simple.

He's not going to get on a commercial flight.

certainly there are elements in these cases that are unprecedented, but there are plenty of precedents of remarkably rich people getting bail for amounts of money which to mere mortals are huge, but which the accused could do without with merely a wince.

Can I suggest that if there was even a whiff of anything collusion or treason related that Manafort would never have gotten bail?

No bail if "even a whiff of anything collusion related"? We have excellent reason to believe he and others were involved in whatever "collusion" is between American citizens and Moscow to affect the 2016 election. And bail was requested and granted. Perhaps a deal was struck?
