Merry (F'ing) Christmas. Hard To Be Merry About Anything.

Sure we have won some significant elections but we are still deep in the woods. And the "tax scam" looks like it will pass. So many things just plain stink right now. Trump becomes more unbearable every day as does the GOP too.

We yet do not have enough power to stop them. We may still win in the end, but will the political and economic landscape in the US look like the remnants of the cities where ISIS had been defeated. My concern is how much damage can we stop.

4. Perhaps. But The Political Landscape Of Your Country Does Matters. Right Now It Sucks.

Christmas is about the prospects of the future. It is about feelings of well being today. Seeing a really bad tax bill that will harm the well being of the country does not help. I do not have any family to deal with. But there are families deeply divided in this political landscape. Somehow it is hard to imagine very divided families getting together and being terribly joyous.

Besides there are a lot of people who lives will be worse with GOP policies in force.

6. Christmas is not about the prospects of the future

Christmas is and always has been about the birth of Christ and nothing has changed in his birth. I hear what you're saying and I understand what you're saying but again your conflating things with Christmas that aren't Christmas. No disrespect to you

And no disrespect to you either, but the only time Christ is mentioned on Christmas is when someone closes their eyes for 40 seconds and hypocritically thanks him for their food that was purchased at Walmart. JMO

in these turbulent times, but the tide will change, he (tRump) will get his. We need to mobilize again and fight, this is our country and fuck the GOP now Ryan is thinking about bailing next year. We will see more leave.

We just need to keep on them our Reps and Senators, keep being a nuisance to them all.

3. Yes you can be merry. You have a place to live, running water, food, electricity,

you are able to flush your bodily wastes away. That right there is enough to be merry about.

And don't despair, just like trashbag tRUMP is undoing Obama's good works - we are just gonna go right back and undo his. I really believe that.

I really believe they will get theirs. The problem for me is that I have been tracking this slide to Trump since 1981. We should have never gotten to this point in the first place.

13. The winter season is always about death and rebirth.

I'm not a Christian, but I've got family and friends who are, so I celebrate Christmas with them as well as my own traditions.

The longest nights, the shortest days, the chaotic weather, the pace of the season. And the gathering together to survive, the laughing in the face of apparent decline because it doesn't last. The wheel of the year turns. Spring will come.

Sure, the tax bill is an abomination, just as is the Hurricanes that wiped out most of Puerto Rico, the winter wild fires that have destroyed the homes and livelihoods of hundreds, if not thousands of Californians.
It's the winter destruction. But we gather together in grim merriment to share what we have, plan the strategies for the new year, and if nothing else, fart in the general direction of those destructive forces that are trying to take away what little we have and feast on our bones.

Shore up your relationships and assets, and mitigate the damage as much as you can. Stay awake, and be happy with those you love. Winter is about hope and enduring.
