Remember, they survived Jared the Subway Pedophile...

(889 posts)Jared the disgraced Subway spokesman has no connection at all with Jared the jewelry company. But I'm sure you knew that. To imply any connection is disgraceful. Even if you are trying to be funny, it is disgraceful. And you are wasting the time of anyone who clicks on this post. I clicked on it only because I know someone who works for the jeweler.
Do the right thing. Delete your post.
On edit: If you want to take a slap at Jared Kushner, be my guest. He deserves it. But don't highlight a totally innocent party (the jeweler in this case).

(16,829 posts)I did not imply any connection between the Jewelry company and the Subway Jared. That's totally on you.

(889 posts)...because a good friend of mine works for the jeweler.
"They survived Jared the Subway Pedophile...", that implies a connection I'm sure you didn't mean. The jeweler, of course, has no connection to the child molester. So when the two of them are mentioned in the same breath, I get a little upset. I hope you can understand that.

(16,829 posts)Subway Jared was pretty well known when his scandal came out. I would expect that Jared Jewelry wondered if it would hurt their brand at the time - not because anyone actually thought there was an association - but just because of the name.
Already tonight people are posting and tweeting their slogan "He went to Jared" - because Kushner might be next to be indicted. I suppose the company could think any attention to the brand slogan is good - but its another bad association. Of course it isn't a reflection on them at all, but it does bring attention to the brand.
That's all I was trying to say. Probably it won't hurt their business, but it shows how well known their slogan is.

(889 posts)It was very classy. (Does anyone besides me still use the word "classy"?)

(93 posts)Was going home and finding out that the $10 insurance that I had to repeatedly turn down on a $75 ring was on my receipt anyway.
I've never walked into another Jared Jewelry store since. Glad to know there are honest people that work there and hopefully, they've figured out that pressuring their employees to sell the extra insurance hurts them in the long run.

(62,444 posts)Like the Samsung smartphone payment system that was named ISIS or the 1980s diet product called AYDS, there has been an unfortunate run of Jareds.

so they can survive anything...
"He went to Jaaaaared..." (in whiny voice) will now echo in my ears all day, like a bad song. Sigh.
