FCC chair dances with Pizzagate proponent in video promoting net neutrality repeal

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai appeared Wednesday in a video promoting his impending net neutrality repeal, dancing with a woman who has a history of promoting the so-called "Pizzagate" conspiracy.

The Pizzagate conspiracy theory, which proliferated during the final days of the 2016 presidential race, posits without evidence that high-ranking Democrats were involved in a nonexistent pedophile ring based out of a Washington, D.C. pizzeria. In December 2016, a man motivated by the conspiracy theory fired a gun in the business.

The video, produced by conservative outlet The Daily Caller, features Pai insisting that the FCC's impending, highly criticized repeal of net neutrality will not affect what users can do online.

In one clip, Pai is seen dancing alongside Martina Markota, a video producer for The Daily Caller.

Gizmodo reports that Markota had previously included an unlisted YouTube video on her website, in which she talks about Pizzagate.

Copyright infringement, to be specific. And -- given the nature of the Federal Communications Commission's responsibilities -- you would think that the Chairman would strive to uphold the law.
And you'd be wrong in this instance.

According to the Huffington Post,

The brains behind the viral hit “Harlem Shake” are threatening legal action against Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai for his use of the song in an advertisement for the repeal of net neutrality rules.

After famed DJ Diplo tweeted at the song’s producer Harry Rodrigues ― a DJ better known as Baauer ― about Pai’s use of the song, Rodrigues tweeted on Thursday afternoon that he’d be “taking action.”

In collaboration with conservative news outlet The Daily Caller, Pai released a video entitled “7 Things You Can Still Do On The Internet After Net Neutrality” that, at one point, features him dancing to the 2013 song. The video went out just one day before the FCC voted to repeal the Obama-era regulations currently in effect.

“I want to be clear that it was used completely without my consent or council. My team and I are currently exploring every single avenue available to get it taken down. I support Net Neutrality like the vast majority of this country and am appalled to be associated with its repeal in anyway.”

Under ideal circumstances, Congress would subpoena A-Shit-Pie's ass and demand to know why he should not immediately resign. However, we are living under less-than-ideal-circumstances, and keeping a criminal in such an important position fits in nicely with the RepubliCONs' vision of draining the swamp.

Oh, and please don't view the video; let's not give it even more exposure than it deserves (unless, of course, that would strengthen the case of the rightful owners of this intellectual property. In that case, click away!).
