read the BS my internet sevice provider told me today:
On December 14, the federal Communications Commission (FCC) will vote on whether or not to repeal net neutrality.
Centurylink is pleased to see the FCC moving forward to bring additional clarity for consumers and providers to the open internet/net neutrality debate.
We continue to believe Chairman Pai's approach to applying light- touch regulation to the internet will drive innovation, investment and job creation in our global internet economy.
Our network will play an important role in in that process by providing our customers the freedom to visit and use lawful websites and application as they do today.
We look forward to working with the FCC to ensure that the internet experience for consumers and businesses, as well as the exchange of internet traffic between providers, remains positive and beneficial to all.

(7,576 posts)I am so afraid they are going to cut my access to DU......I am here all day long......I am 76 and disabled and my internet is my access to the outside world. I cannot afford to pay for a fast lane......I live on social security.

(21,506 posts)it will be a slow burn and will likely mostly affect internet streaming services like Netflix first. Low bandwidth sites like DU will come much later.
With any luck we will rise up and demand our representatives do something about it long before it affects DU.
