Hey ladies get busy. Time to procreate and MAGA!
by digby
This is a fundamental white nationalist view. Whether Paul Ryan knows that, I don't know. But it's fucking digusting either way:
People this is going to be the new economic challenge for America. People, Ryan said, in response to a question about entitlement reform.
Alluding to the fact that hes a father of three, Ryan added, I did my part, but we need to have higher birth rates in this country. Meaning, baby boomers are retiring, and we have fewer people following them in the work force.
We have something like a 90 percent increase in the retirement population in America, but only a 19 percent increase in the working population in American, the Speaker continued. So what do we have to do? Be smarter, more efficient, more technology still going to need more people. And when we have tens of millions of people right here in this country falling short of their potential not working, not looking for a job, or not in school getting a skill to get a job thats a problem.
While it is true that birth rates in the U.S. have been declining, thats not necessarily bad news for instance, birth rates for teenagers hit a record low last year. Ryans comments also overlook the possibility that people may not share his belief that economic growth is a goal to be pursued at any and all costs.
Furthermore, theres an obvious solution to the problem that Ryan completely ignores allowing more immigrants into the country to fill the jobs being vacated by retiring baby boomers. But instead of using his position as House Speaker to pursue immigration reform, Ryan has instead indicated hes on board with Trumps hardline anti-immigration positions, including the presidents insistence on spending billions of dollars on a border wall.

(31,261 posts)just to feed the supply of workers? Companies don't think twice about laying people off when those companies want higher profits. Why bear and raise a child who is likely to be jobless well before retirement age? If companies seriously work toward making sure no worker suffers, even when those workers are not needed, then maybe, otherwise Paul Ryan can go to a quiet place and screw himself.

(3,608 posts)what a fool! It almost annoys me as much as the "we have the lowest unemployment eva" and "we need more jobs, Americans have no jobs....jobs pouring back from overseas"....these R talking heads will say that shit in the same sentence. Want to choke them.

(17,169 posts)You ever read this old article about Trump & Ivana?
https://www.vanityfair.com/magazine/2015/07/donald-ivana-trump-divorce-prenup-marie-brenner
It's fascinating in a repulsive kind of way.
From the article:
Donald was determined to have a large family. I want five children, like in my own family, because with five, then I will know that one will be guaranteed to turn out like me, Donald told a close friend. He was willing to be generous with Ivana, and a story went around that he was giving her a cash bonus of $250,000 for each child.
Uday has five. Approval seeking much? Qusay - I'm not sure. Two or three? Ivana Jr. - four I think.

(19,429 posts)In fact, more people are a handicap. A lot of China's success in the last 3 decades is due to the one child policy that reduced population growth, allowed more parental investment in fewer children, and allowed increased investment in infrastructure and economic development.
Children are hugely expensive to raise and educate, and the outcome of the process is highly uncertain.
