Might the Madman fire Rosenstein without expressly asking him to fire Mueller?

And he'll throw out some other bullshit reason for firing Rosenstein (because that's what he does....i.e. Comey).

Then Rachel Brand comes in and miraculously decides on her very own initiative to end the Mueller investigation?

This is all given Rosenstein's vote of confidence in Mueller that he expressed yesterday.

Mind you, all of these actions would be as transparent as a wall of windows, but for whatever its worth Trump could play the plausible deniability card to attempt to hedge against Saturday Night Massacre 2.0 optics.

I don't think it would work in the end, because we're not stupid. But doesn't mean Trump couldn't try it anyways.

This is, after all, "Stupid Watergate."

Stupidly conceived and executed at every step. The absurd notion of reaping electoral results through illegal means and without consequences never quite registered.
