Just a thought on the Black Voter Turnout..

I hope the election results proved to Black voters how their vote can absolutely impact
the future of our country... I absolutely understand why Blacks were not enthusiastic about our last Presidential Election..Black Voting in the 2016 Pres Election fell 7%....from a high of 66% to 59%...

.. We're in such dangerous times with a President who is absolutely out of his mind supported by Republican's who control both the house and senate..

In order to change course and bring political sanity to our nation...We desperately need the support of everyone in every election from now until we rid out country from this current insanity.

I've had my doubts about Pew once in awhile... but this link sums it up fairly well.

And when you say you absolutely understand why they were not enthusiastic about the last prez election, I have to ask, you do?

I dont.

But not because I judge them one way or the other on the issue, but because as a white person I dont have a clue what it is like to live ONE day as black in this country let alone my entire life.

If you are a black person saying this, then I stand down and withdraw my comment, obviously.

If not, may I suggest...well, it should be obvious what I would suggest, less lecturing and more listening.

White America simply has no place in questioning anything black America does, and especially in this area.

I don't see how anyone can "blame" AA voters for turnout. It thankfully appears that the DNC and NAACP created an effective workaround in AL. I hope it can serve as a model until Dems can correct the abuses.

I do think it's interesting how there were so many "black voters aren't enthused" gloom and doom pieces before the election, almost all by white people. Like if Jones had lost it would be AA voters' fault, rather than all the white people, including my own demographic of white women.

I was doing the best I could..I simply stated ( and you obviously didn't get)...That Black Citizens in our Country are so important to the success of progressive govt..After so many years of White racist Republican Doctrine, beginning with Fucking Reagan and his comments of "Welfare Queens"... I thought it would be correct to thank them for their effort..

Yea and your comment? " Less lecturing?" Give me a break.. Read the post again.. I did my best to prevent
my post from doing that. But there is always someone in the crowd who wants to be smarter.. Their numbers were historically down in 2016.. and I stated "I understand "..

By the way I listened for 4 hrs this am... and I proudly stand by what I stated in the o.p.

I took no offense at the OPs observations. Doug Jones' campaign should be a model for how to increase black voter turnout in the South but let's be honest, it took a candidate like Roy Moore to be that motivating. That won't happen everywhere.

Granted, Moore was a horrible candidate, but no more horrible than 45, or Cruz, or any of the gop. We can/will get similar results, if/when we put in similar effort, regardless of who the gop candidate is.

I know here in GA we have a much larger minority population than AL but we have to take a page from AL and organize, get boots on the ground to GOTV. It can and will happen.

Particularly the women. They are a powerhouse of voters and have been delivering a loud and clear message that their concerns need to be addressed. Just recently holding the DNC feet to the fire. For way too long their faith and work on behalf of the party has been ignored and taken for granted. In last night's vote 93% of black women voted for Jones.

Why not dig into why they were good with sending a racist, homophobic pedophile to the Senate?

Ask 53% of white women why they voted for "Grab 'em by the pussy" Trump.

Why should it constantly fall to black voters to keep the country out of corrupt, predatory Republican hands?

...... The blue voters have to talk up blue voters to go vote, anyone 18+ years. Do it for yourself, vote with your kids in mind and their future, vote with your grand kids in mind and their future. America's destiny, political direction, the very future of this country is at stake.

The red staters and Bible thumpers know that off year elections are the perfect time to hijack the political system to serve their narrow-minded agendas.

If Demos don't vote, Demos don't chatter up the need to vote - city - state - and federal elections - on year and off year and not just every four years presidential elections - the extreme right wingers will lead us right over the political cliff into a full blown Fascist Oligarchic governmental system. We don't want to live like that, we do not want to leave a nightmare of that sort as a gift to the children.

If we do not take voting more seriously and get others to do the same - American Democracy is under dire threat and will not survive without our effort to keep it healthy, alive, and thriving with our progressive votes and careful and thoughtful selection of candidates for public office.

The Republican Party has no intentions or desires to lead us to the Promise Land. They are too stupid, too greedy, too selfish, and entirely self centered and incapable to lead.
We must hold their grip on power to an absolute minimum or they will dismantle and destroy the entire political system to render it completely dysfunctional.

Our vote is the most powerful weapon at our disposal - our vote will remedy this catastrophic political quagmire.

If we fail to use the combined power of our votes - for all practical purposes we might just as well wave the white flag and just surrender to their political will and let them chart our futures and the futures of our kids.
