It appears that the Trump administration is withdrawing Brett Talley's name from consideration for a lifetime appointment to the federal bench:

The White House is reportedly pulling back a judicial nominee who has never argued a case in court after the pick drew opposition from a key Senate Republican.
A White House official said that the nomination of Brett Talley, now a Justice Department attorney, "will not be moving forward," NPR reported.
President Trump nominated Talley to a lifetime Alabama federal judgeship, and he quickly became one of the president's most controversial nominees. The American Bar Association (ABA) deemed him "not qualified" and his lack of experience drew criticism from lawmakers.
I have been reliably informed in the last 18 hours that Doug Jones' election in Alabama, like the blue tsunami results last month in Virginia, are terrible news for Democrats and liberals. Now an unqualified nominee is being taken out of consideration. Will the nightmare never end? How much more winning for Republicans can we stand???

(12,448 posts)despite the terrible things that have happened recently: Virginia, Alabama, and now even with Brett Talley's withdrawal. It's a struggle and we'll be facing more struggles next year. I say, BRING THEM ON!

It's imperative to focus on every bad thing, dwell on it. lament over it, fret and fume about it. Only in that way will the immutable past change, and then and only then can we ever appreciate anything good that happens, if it ever does, which it never does. Thanks for reminding us all.

(27,813 posts)The real battles are in the states, and the number one issues are voter suppression and voter turnout. That's where we lost (and I think it's rigged).
In these in-plain-sight high stakes elections, where the whole world is scrutinizing, they can't pull some of their tactics. The trick is to get voters to see every election, even if it's for a streetsweeper, as having high stakes.
