Congressman Says ‘Everyone Respects’ Mueller at FBI Hearing, Louie Gohmert Interrupts: ‘I Don’t’

As Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN) complimented Robert Mueller and the sanctity of his investigation today, one of his colleagues decided to interrupt him with a negative aside.

Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein appeared before the House Judiciary Committee today, and he was asked to speak about Mueller’s track record from when he was head of the FBI. Rosenstein spoke positively of Mueller’s reputation and service, and told the congressman that he has not seen any sufficient reason to relieve Mueller as head of the special counsel.

Cohen agreed with Rosenstein’s assessment, and he began speaking about how “everybody respects that man in this country.” At that point, Louie Gohmert (R-TX) decided to interrupt and say “I didn’t, I don’t.”

Cohen dryly noted “obviously, we knew that would be an exception,” and he continued that Republicans only started complaining about Mueller once he started investigating Trump.

14. And I hope Gohmert gets a credible Democratic opponent next year

I keep hearing about how Texas is trending purple or going blue, but that trend seems to be taking a helluva long time. Louie Gohmert should be running scared in 2018, and Democrats need to find a decent candidate to run against him. That candidate will need cash and spend some of it on making sure every eligible voter in the district is registered. Then get those people to the polls on Nov. 6, and leave Gohmert to concentrate on the next chapter in his sad life.
