The best candidate we could put up against the worst candidate they could put up just barely won. And it was largely black women who put him over the line.
The Trump tide is turning, but 2018 will not be easy.

I wonder what would have been the results if they didn't manipulate the votes.

(4,544 posts)Even as close as it was, this is a noteworthy win. It's freaking Alabama!

(26,044 posts)Alabama will easily flip back to the Republicans in 2020, as long as they nominate a candidate who doesn't have a hankering for underage girls.
Hopefully, by Election Night 2020, it won't matter, as Democrats will have recaptured both chambers of Congress and the Presidency, no matter what happens in Alabama.

Also, black Alabama women--and men--came out in force. Let's win back Congress in 2018 and make disenfranchisement more difficult everywhere, including Alabama.

(4,266 posts)This was a very heartening win. In a state where our party is not typically the victor, people of good conscience - some of them probably even lifetime Republicans - came out to stop an alleged pedophile from gaining a position of great power. They pulled off a win which, a few days ago, a lot of people would've doubted.
It was also particularly satisfying to see the African American and other minority communities come out in droves, totally bewildering the opposition. We owe a large portion of this victory to them. I'm gladdened that they are wise to voter suppression tactics previously used against them and that many who were turned away with provisional ballots did not stay silent.
This is a great win, and who knows? They just might like their new Senator and decide to keep him around.

(3,586 posts)We Still have to remember that 49% or the electorate went for a racist, misogynist child abused. 49%. Can't relax. We must push this hard all over the country. Every district, house seat, senate and governor race.

(8,692 posts)When I left the office Moore was still in the lead and when I am in Canada it takes me about forty minutes to drive home. When my father's cell number showed up on my Bluetooth I panicked because my Mom went into the hospital today for what was supposed to be a minor procedure and he rarely calls me from his cell phone, he was so excited I could barely understand him but somewhere in Irvine my elderly father was making a scene.

It won't be easy but it will happen due to simmering anger and revulsion at the whiney white house bitch.
