Out of 1.3 million votes, Doug Jones won by a margin of 19,000 votes. It's a dramatic over simplification to say Trumpism lost tonight. After all, 600,000 people voted for a racist homophobic neo-confederate lawbreaking hate monger. But at least those of us on the side of the Angels have momentum. And one extra vote in the Senate.
The stain of Jim Crow racism still sticks on the American skin. But at least we have a road open to redemption now. I'm not ecstatic, because I know there's a lot of weight on our shoulders still. But for the moment, I'm happy

(46,166 posts)It's such a nudge for each of us do what we can for candidates around the country. Moore isn't the only flawed candidate. We should see all Republican candidates as flawed in some way and support our side as best we can.
I'm beyond happy. I'm inspired.
