(7,522 posts)I get sick of those who say poor Sarah she has a tough job and did the same for Spicer. They, as Schmidt pointed out, swore an oath to this country and are getting well-paid by the taxpayers to be honest out there and they are doing nothing but openly lying every day.

(28,795 posts)care to fill in some details on that?
not saying' anything about what happened to "your friend's dad," but I've heard lots of stories like that....very often they don't survive more than superficial scrutiny
welfare Cadillac queens ring a bell?

(57,093 posts)I've been a satisfied member of the UAW and I supported Walter Ruether for POTUS when he thought he might run and the best union of all, the old AFL-CIO, my dad was a union bricklayer and my grandfather was a member of UMW when Jock Yablonski was President. My grandfather died of black lung and thank G*d for the union. I believe in closed shop contracts and so-called right to work states are bullshit. I know, I live in one now.
I believe in unions and unionized workers. If you don't know about what the Teamsters did to their membership in the '70's you need to read up. Start with the "Central States Pension Fund". Google it. I was also a Teamster when I worked for Salem Potato Chip and the contract we production workers got VS the one the drivers got, well have you ever heard of a "sweetheart contract"???
Screw your aspersions, BTW. Welfare Cadillac, my ass. Wiki Frank Fitzsimmons and Jackie Presser and the two interim morons.

Go ahead read just this and learn something.
Gabi Hayes
(28,795 posts)would have been a good idea to preface your remarks with that "pro union" stance
my first union affiliation was with the teamsters, btw
I'm well aware of what crooks Fitzsimmons/Presser were, along with their predecessors, like you know who
no need to be so nasty
I'm sure many others here were wondering about the impression your post left regarding unions, seeing as how they're just about the last bastion left against the big gov/big biz fascists who are on their way to complete hegemony....... hence my initial skepticism
be nice
apology already accepted!

(57,093 posts)my accounting of Mr Neal's getting fucked out of his pension after paying Teamster dues for more than thirty years, comparing my recounting of it as fake as welfare cadilacs are. Me apologize? Nice try.
Are you grown up enough to apologize to me? Were you ever even a member of a Union?
"those damn dirty unions, hey?

You think that's civil?????? I owe YOU an apology?
Gabi Hayes
(28,795 posts)and, again (as I said above) you FAILED to mention any union ties, or pro union sentiment in your first post, which prompted my response
there's been lots of union bashing going on here for many years (especially teachers), as well as red herrings galore, hence my reaction to your anti union assertion. how long have you been posting here? perhaps not long enough to have experienced the myriad discussions along those lines
apparently your dander was so high it got in the way of your vision, or hampered your reading comprehension
try reading my post again, and calm down a bit
from a twenty plus year union member.....got it, as you didn't when you failed to comprehend my first post?

(28,795 posts)doth the dame protest too much?
you're the one running down unions on a democratic thread, are you not?
enjoy your pot stirring
all you had to do was to have mention some sort of solidarity/bona fides in your post
I've seen too much of that anecdotal gobswallow here to let something like that pass here uncommented upon
why don't you just sit back and enjoy a perhaps unexpected victory for "our" side tonight
mmmkay?
buhbye

(57,093 posts)Why don't you ask your questions sans nastiness and trollishness, you do know trolling is also frowned on here, too, don't you?
YOU brought up welfare cadilacs.
YOU suggested I was merely reciting a story I heard from a friend and then admitted - oh yeah - Teamsters DID go through a period of proven mob connections and mishandling of the pension funds - and I'm the bad guy?
Grow up.
The last word is yours, brother.

I'd no doubt disagree with him greatly on normal policy things, but his anti-Trump stance is brilliant, principled, articulate, wonderful.

He doesn't automatically fall in along party lines--
I definitely consider him an articulate, intelligent, and rational human being.

(19,201 posts)is just one or two chromosomes away from being throw-back Neanderthals. Of course the Huckleberry family doesn't believe there ever were Neanderthals, so they have that going for them.
Didn't one of her brothers get kicked out of the Boy Scouts for torturing a dog? Mike, the Dad, is not playing with a full deck, and of course, Sarah......Sarah......Sarah...is a liar extraordinaire. She looks like she could fight her way out of any seedy waterfront bar without getting a scratch on her.
How could such a good christian family be so utterly devoid of integrity? The entire family has backed Trump since he became the Republican nominee. Are you shitting me? Someone as vile and soulless as Trump deserves their "christian" support?
The entire Huckabee clan is deserving of nothing better than complete scorn.
