What crime did he commit? I want to see the testimony of his accusers. Is there testimony? Or did someone like a Kim Davis type make something up? Are we really suppose to believe the republicans, who are in bed with putin and will stop at nothing, would never play a dirty trick?

Seriously, that’s in her statement of “sexual harassment”. She said he was jealous she had more people in line for autographs so for spite he drew devil horns on her pictures. (Even though in photos it shows he has long lines of soldiers waiting to meet him for autographs). Seriously, she is complaining about this. HE DREW DEVILHORNS ON MY PICTURES!!!! What is she, in second grade?

The Franken situation made me so furious. Made much worse by getting eaten alive by his own party--assumed guilty with no proof--and some people on here. We need AL desperately, and I can only hope he doesn't officially resign.

This was a bullshit smear campaign.

We have been hit hard in the gut ever since November of 2016. Its all been coming from the other side. So that is why this sucker punch from behind us, those we thought were on our side, is so difficult to live with.

only serves to dilute the caustic nature of the contents. I don't think that is unforeseen, that Roger Stone et al knew what they were doing when they started this. Smear everyone and the worst don't look as bad as they really are to some folks. I think the time is now to draw a distinction between the subjective and ambiguous, and the downright predatory. We can all see the difference, can't we? Zero tolerance never solved any problem; it is the laziest form of morality. And there are other moral principles at stake here, like Franken's right to a fair hearing, a right he has earned!

1 His main accuser, LeeAnn Tweeden is suspect. She had connections to top Trump Republicans.
She was a long time twitter buddy of Don Jr.
2. Al Franken was ousted led by Gillibrand before Franken had a chance to appear before the Ethics Committee
as he had requested to answer the accusations.
3. Only 2 of the 8 accusers gave their names
4. Al Franken's Senate staff who had worked under him for over 9 years wrote a letter attesting to Franken's integrity
together with the pleasure of working for him.

Three Trump supporters and Tina Dupuy, whose story makes no sense on the face of it and came after the resignation demand. The critical story was #7 which Franken categorically denied. Your fourth point is unique among these situations. 130 woman came forward defending Franken. I think we should listen to them too.

been a Fox (Hannity!) talking head, and she denounced first, so I also tend to think of her as the main accuser. And what seemed like overblown histrionics coming after the restraint of the Moore accusers irritated me, always good for impact but not good judgement.

Of course, you're right. though. Why would any one be a "main"? Although I doubt I can sincerely rehab that one who claimed he asked her to meet him in a toilet stall to a dispassionate equality with the rest.

Should be proportional to the offence.

Why take one of the most severe forms of punishment for ALLEDGED offences that appear to not be sexual assault or sexual harassment. From a gal pal of that manatee Hannity?

My vote in Minnesota was stolen from me by Democrats, stupid enough to fall for republican/Russian dirty tricks. I'm livid

I wouldn't do it, but I'm not nearly as good a person as Senator Franken. Of course we need him, but, sincerely, do we deserve him? Well, I'm not from Minnesota, so my opinion is pretty much meaningless anyway, but hasn't he "taken it on the chin" enough?

Recant, it was a stupid rush to judgment. I would also like an apology to the people of Minnesota from Dem party leaders for denying us the opportunity to decide.

Especially since I am not altogether convinced that some of these leaders might not be smart enough to not eat paste, let alone being the judge jury and exequitioner of the intelligent Mr Franken I base my suspicions on their complete bumbling of this affair

Hopefully, some good investigative journalists will reveal definitively that the charges against him are a bogus smear and after his name is cleared, he will be re-elected.

After seeing that he was the most effective Democrat during the confirmation hearings, I really don't want to see him go. I'd hoped to have the chance to vote for him on a Presidential primary ballot.
