Just voted in Fairhope, Alabama

I ran in on my lunch hour and was surprised at the small crowd. I vote in a great big church and they moved us out of the main hall to one of the outbuildings. There was no line when I got there - maybe six people waiting when I left. To put it in perspective, last year's presidential election was in the main hall and the line extended in and out of every room in the building. Almost all of the people there (besides me) appeared to be retirees. Baldwin County is notoriously red, so I'm hoping that the low turnout here bodes well for Doug Jones.

Possible that the Republican turnout is suppressed by the notion of voting for a pedophile.

Let's hope so!

I didn't have to wait. There were a few people there. Doug needs Madison County so I hope the polling places that will swing it are busy today.

so I'm comparing apples to apples at my polling place. Unfortunately, Alabama doesn't have early voting -- absentee ballot like my daughter in college or you'd better find a way to the polls on election day.

I am optimistic, but the state Supreme Court also pretty much gave a pass for election fraud. Make up numbers and destroy ballots immediately. Right out of the dictatorship playbook.

... a sign that enough people can't really at the end of the day hold their nose and vote for Moore.

I mean, I offered clothespins, in all serious joking, to anyone who couldn't vote for our nominee ever since I've been on DU.

But I hope there are enough decent people, even if they're deluded on many levels, for whom it'd take a fucking gas mask to mark that bubble and don't care to go obtain one.

is because Fairhope has a large retiree population and is VERY red. If not many people show up that might mean that they've decided not to vote. That was the choice my republican parents made.

our dog wins. I want Jones to be your Senator and we continue to get the Senate back even if we still have two more seats to take.
