If Moore loses, the GOP will have dodged a bullet...

For their Party and peace of mind, it is preferable to them that Roy Moore lose against Jones.

Because, if he wins, they will be burdened with a problem that will not go away. It will be like a millstone around their necks.

Democrats will gain a seat in the Senate if Jones wins, but they will lose the bullet aimed between the eyes of the GOP if Moore wins.

It would not be a tragedy for the Democrats if Moore wins.

I think that deep in their hearts, most Republicans in Congress will not be disappointed if Moore loses today.

If there is a possibility of a break spot it would be that the Democrats could hang him like a tight noose around the Republicans and Trump. You will never win over the Trump base on bat shit crazy conservatives but you sure could use it to try to win over everyone else. The Democrats would have to make it their mission to: 1) poison the Republican well and 2) fight for voter rights.

I wish that some group would call for International voter watch groups to monitor the most questionable voting places. Democrats have to make it damn hard for anyone to ever steal the election again.

that will be another GOP nail in the coffin. There goes the reputation of our Congress and the Presidency they have taken it down to a despicable level.

Do you ever wonder if they (Trump and Bannon) just want to see the Congress dissolved would that cause the GOP to take him out of office. I know it would be a constitutional crisis. I guess I am thinking over the top.

Because of his insanity. But Roy Moore is nuttier than a snickers bar and a loud mouth too boot. He's not going to escape the press and he can't help what kind of whacko, bigoted, misogynist crap that comes out of his pie hole.

this as if were some kind of victory for us if Moore wins. If he wins that just another vote to destroy medicaid, medicare, social security etc. And we would've lost an election to a pedophile in Alabama. That are to tell us Trump voters and republicans don't care how they get their toxic agenda passed as long as they get it passed.

Running onto a busy highway is an efficient way to dodge a bullet.

A senate seat is a more powerful asset than a bullet in the chamber of a stage-gun.

the whole "albatross" thing. The news media is constantly moving to the next bright shiny object, and yesterday's concerns become forgotten tomorrow.

Either way, it's a bullet fired at them, but I think they've decided that the bullet of Roy Moore is just a beanbag compared to having their Senate majority narrowed way down for 2018. That's probably why the RNC did an about-face and decided to toss a few bucks at Moore.

Moore may go away (or not. He doesn't seem like the going quietly sort)... But now they are going to be even more desperate to pass a tax bill asap. Which means that they are even more hostage to the worst among them, and the destructive whims of those.
