Other than the fact that everybody could ride a horse in the day before automobiles, how many "cowboys" were there in Alabama, riding the range wearing cowboy hats with gunbelts around their waists back in the good old plantation days?

Most were vaqueros and wore sombreros and I'm not sure what the African-American cowboys wore. Those two ethnic groups made up most of the real cowboys. The Hollywood image is just false, not even good fiction, because good fiction should feel real.
