Attorneys for President Trump would like a new special counsel to be appointed to probe the individuals who are currently investigating Russian election meddling, Axios reported early Tuesday.
"The Department of Justice and FBI cannot ignore the multiple problems that have been created by these obvious conflicts of interests. These new revelations require the appointment of a Special Counsel to investigate, one of Trumps lawyers, Jay Sekulow, told the news outlet.
Axioss Mike Allen reported that the call for a second special counsel comes after Fox News published an article on Monday that said the wife of an official in the Justice Department was employed by Fusion GPS, the opposition firm behind a controversial dossier of Trump opposition research, during the campaign.
The presidents attorneys, according to Axios, fault the FBI and the Justice Department under Attorney General Jeff Sessions for the probe into Russias election meddling and any potential ties between Trump campaign staff members and the Kremlin.
Trump has repeatedly called the probe a witch hunt, arguing Democrats are using Russias attempts to interfere in last year's presidential election as an excuse for their loss.
As the phony Russian Witch Hunt continues, two groups are laughing at this excuse for a lost election taking hold, Democrats and Russians! Trump said in July.

(5,611 posts)Trump thinks it is totally normal to ask for an investigation that has not been concluded to be examined cause that wouldnt be obstruction or anything. Sigh.

In response to organized call to fascism, of course.
Jeanine Pirro said there was corruption in the department and bureau that necessitated investigation, blaming Mueller, former FBI Director James Comey and other figures for what she described as the stench coming out of the Justice Department and the FBI.
There is a cleansing needed in our FBI and our Department of Justice, she said in the opening statement on her Saturday night show. It needs to be cleansed of individuals who should not just be fired but who need to be taken out in handcuffs.

(82,849 posts)Makes me think there may be more to this investigation than the two guilty pleas and two indictments that the Mueller team has already racked up. The administration is certainly acting as if there's more to come from this witch hunt. Curious.
