If Trump refuses to resign, Gillibrand told CNN that Congress should launch a sweeping investigation into the President, who stands accused of sexually harassing or assaulting nearly two dozen women.
"I've heard these women's testimony and many of them are heartbreaking," Gillibrand said. "Whether (Trump) will ever hold himself accountable is something you really can't hold your breath for so Congress should have hearings."
On Sunday, Gillibrand's Democratic colleague, Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey, similarly urged Trump to resign while campaigning for Doug Jones, the Democratic candidate fending off against accused child molester Roy Moore in Alabama's highly-publicized Senate election.

(13,496 posts)But it's probably why she (and others) pushed for Franken to resign. So they wouldn't be seen as hypocrites. (Even though it's different.)

(11,843 posts)Only after negative feedback did she call for Trump to resign. So now that she is doing it, I expect the lynch mob against Franken that she enabled to spend hours and hundred of posts going after Trump.
You will forgive me if I don't hold my breath...

(2,091 posts)When good Democrats noticed that all this time Gillibrand had never ever called for Trump to resign, she....er.....obliged.

(68,582 posts)called on Sen. Gillibrand to do this...it just doesn't matter to me. I would vote for any Democrat in a general, but in the 2020 primary, then I get to choose who I think can best represent us.
