His father was a lawyer who helped defend Frank. Because of the rising anti-semitism in GA, the father moved the family to Tulsa.

It's bizarre that John Hope Franklin (noted black US historian at Duke) was born in Tulsa but moved away as a child because of the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921. His father was a civil rights lawyer who helped defend survivors of the Riot.
