If Robert Mueller is fired, is all hope for America lost?

I'm sorry but breadcrumbs being left for some unknown prosecutor in some unknown state is not enough to save the union in the slightest. There needs to be someone with the power to punish people and tie it together on a national scale. My only hope is that the government has not been funded yet and Democrats can insist that a continuation of the special counsel be part of the year-end budget deal, but will they?

The day Mueller is fired, if it comes, will be the worst day of my life bar none and it will be akin to Hitler's purge in 1934 where he personally killed his political opponents. It will be the day that America's bright star is extinguished.

What's scary is that, in the end, with a complicit GOP congress, Trump has a blank check to do whatever he wants and if he wants Mueller gone, he's gone, that's that, and Russia will be forgotten by the media.

Scary.

Edit: I waited for the public to rise up in protest when the Supreme Court stole the presidency from Al Gore. I waited a long time...

Over this possibility in the past few days. I even upped my anti-anxiety/depression pills on Saturday and then ended up unable to sleep and feeling nauseous all night. So that went out the window.

The GOP is all in on Trump, he's their new Vladimir Putin.

Trump will fire Mueller and the investigation will end, and the GOP will not lift a finger to help America.

What did I miss?

Oh, wait, this is just another one in and endless series of DU posts: Mueller is going to be fired. When was he appointed? I think the first of these posts started the very next day.

Someone who is more clever than I am should produce hypothetical DU threads for the Saturday Night Massacre.

Rachel is convinced Mueller will be fired. She said tonight "at least we can't say we weren't warned." She said that in the last few days, something has "clicked" in the right-wing sphere and there is an all-out assault on Mueller by the Reich Wing. She then went on to post a series of articles saying that Mueller is in grave danger.

If she hadn't led her show tonight with this, I wouldn't be particularly worried, tonight anyway, about it.

But then I noticed that it took her an hour to deliver ten minutes of content and gave up on her.

Plus, the "OMG! Mueller is going to be fired!" has been constant here ever since he took his job.

It's a bit amazing that no one here seems to know the story of the boy who cried wolf.

If Trump fires Mueller and the backlash helps Democrats win majorities in the House and maybe even the Senate, the investigation will come back stronger than ever in the form of a Congressional investigation.

And if Republicans have a strong showing in November, you can pretty much bet that Mueller is gone, and then you can go back to counting down the days to the end of the republic.

There will be elections next year. We may win a majority in the house, may not. Then elections in 2020. Same story.

Win elections, get the government you want.

Mueller or no Mueller they aren't going away. It might slow things down a bit... or it could speed things up if there's a lot there that could be unsealed upon Mueller's exit.

I don’t think he's going anywhere. The GOP has too much to lose.

is in charge of the Justice Department. Seems this Republic has functioned on goodwill and people not lowering themselves for 240 years.

Then it would look really bad to try to stop an investigation, like admitting guilt and you are using your power to be above the law. But the scary thing is there seems to be no low Donnie will not go to and get away with.

The country is much more divided, in my opinion. There are no Republicans that are ready to march over to the White House, as they did back then.
