Fux News just came out with a poll showing Doug Jones with a 10 point lead over Roy Moore.Like most of what Fox News broadcasts, it's mostly bulls#!t. Most other polls show them neck and neck. Given that people are EMBARRASSED to tell pollsters that they're voting for a child molester, I'd guess a neck and neck poll really means Moore has about a 5% edge on Jones.
So...why is Fux Noise putting out this bulls#!t the night before the election? My guess: They want Democratic voters to be complacent, and think that Jones has such a big lead there's no point in even turning up to vote.
There's just one problem with that strategy. Democratic voters don't LISTEN to Fox News polls. Nice try, asshats...

(5,954 posts)If you want your people to turn out, you tell them that you're winning with a slight edge. An edge which could disappear if your voters get complacent. On the other hand, if you think your side is going to win by a mile, you may not go out to vote, or you might vote for a 'protest' candidate. That's been my experience, anyway.

(5,954 posts)In the evil art of PUSH POLLING, a great way to SUPPRESS voters is to make it look like their opponents have a huge, insurmountable lead. On the other hand, if you want them to turn out in droves, make it look like they only have a small lead in an election where every vote counts.

(118,659 posts)to people that guy who voted for a creep. And to keep democrats at home. Worked when John Kerry was running for President in 2004 and exit polls leaked that Kerry was way ahead in the morning. He lost by evening.

There are other differences, too, but these are the main ones. We'll see which poll gets the most accurate results, but Fox's is one of the few using traditional methods and that includes cell phones.

Polls usually get it right but not always. But state polls are less reliable. And the polls on Moore are all over the map.
You might prefer prediction markets where people bet on who will win. I read they are more accurate than polls. Predictit has Moore 68% favorite right now.
