Not sure this source qualifies for LBN, but the story makes sense to me.

(115,719 posts)When this comes from a reputable news source I'll believe it. In fact, even the article itself doesn't say he's about to be indicted. This is pure clickbait. Feh.

(8,138 posts)- Not sure an interview would be a prerequisite to an indictment
- Surely Mueller is looking at Bannon
- Bannon is very likely neck-deep in any collusion/conspiracy that might have happened
So this might be speculative and premature, but we are all thinking it, right? We are wondering why Bannon isn't getting more attention. So, definitely clickbait,... but that doesn't make it wrong!

(8,712 posts)I'm just posting about Palmer Report's TAKE -
As Donald Trumps Russia scandal has gradually unraveled over the course of the past year, and several Trump advisers have been arrested even as dozens of others have been implicated, one name has been conspicuously absent from the mix: Steve Bannon. His ties to Cambridge Analytica have always seemed dirty, and its difficult to imagine that he didnt know about the Trump-Russia conspiracy in his role as the CEO of the campaign. Still, he seemed to have managed to keep his own fingerprints out of it. Over the past few days, however, everything has suddenly changed to the point that Bannon feels compelled to publicly respond.
It all started when the fiancée of Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos asserted during an interview over the weekend that Steve Bannon was aware of what Papadopoulos was doing with Russia during the campaign. This prompted MSNBC Intel analyst Malcolm Nance to assert that Bannon will end up going to prison if he doesnt cut a deal with Special Counsel Robert Muelller.
Others began asking why there has been no word of Bannon meeting with Mueller, at a time when many other senior Trump officials have done so. This in turn led to questions about whether Bannon might have perhaps secretly cut a deal with Mueller. However, Ari Melber reported on MSNBC on Monday evening that Bannon is insisting he has not spoken with Mueller. That raises another question: if Bannon is telling the truth, why is Mueller working around Bannon?
Heres a hint: Robert Mueller has largely only interviewed the Trump advisers he considers to be witnesses and/or co-conspirators in the coverup, and not the people he considers to be the main culprits. Mueller didnt interview Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, or Papadopoulos before arresting them. In other words, to borrow a phrase from Roger Stone (who may end up getting arrested himself), its Steve Bannons time in the barrel.

(1,058 posts)I'm not sure what Bannon would be worried about in particular unless he's lied to the FBI in an interview. Even if he was in the loop on contacts with Russia, that's more embarrassing than illegal unless they can prove more than simply communications. Popadopolous wasn't charged with talking to Russians, he was charged with lying about it.

(2,404 posts)that Steve Bannon "could" be one of Mueller's next targets.
I don't think he's going to be the next indictment, but we'll see. One thing's for sure. Mueller is unpredictable, in a very good way.

(115,719 posts)He might have been in on some of the Russia contacts but I think he's more useful to Mueller on account of what he knows. It may be that they are trying to come up with evidence that they can use to put the screws to him so he'll talk.

(35,317 posts)Look, it's Monday! No indictments.
At some point false prophets really should lose credibility, no matter how Fox-Muldery and "I want to believe" we are.
Back in 2005, give or take a year, there were weekly predictions of "we're going to attack Iran." The only thing missing was "the planes are in the air". Fast forward to 2017, and note the absence of a war with Iran or attacks by the US on Iran. It was pushed to the point of self-parody.
Then there was the bogus "the concentration camps are built" saga, in which one DUer astutely pointed out it would require a plane to land and be unloaded every ... was it 0.5 seconds? Try landing planes with just a couple of seconds' interval between them, and try unloading 20 tons of cargo in a couple of seconds.
Then there was Fitzmas.
It's not jaded. It's not cynical. It's just saying, "You know, what's going to happen is going to happen, and I can wait without getting my adrenals in an uproar over every passing hope."

(8,138 posts)I wouldn't normally post non-mainstream speculation, but it seems obvious that Bannon would have to be a target for Mueller. He IS the connection to Cambridge Analytica. And that opens up a whole can of worms.
