Presidential campaigns and transition teams should be forbidden from enagaging foreign officials

prior to inauguration of the incoming president. For incumbent presidents, no member of national intelligence or foreign policy team (State, NSA, CIA, etc.) should have ANY role in the presidential campaign.

I know that the Logan Act exists, but we may be we need to take it a step further.

I don't see any reason why the transition teams can't engage with their counterparts that they will be working with.

However, it needs to be with the full knowledge and escort of the administration in control.

Its the secretive undermining that is the problem. This most recent time isn't the only example. Nixon in Vietnam and Reagan in Iran (unproven) come to mind.

One may be that all tax returns for the last 10 or 15 years have to be made public. Another may be actual oversight by some Presidential oversight committee on transitioning. Another may be the vetting system used to choose their Administative staff.

I imagine Presidential hands will be tied a bit after this administration. They may rethink the nuclear codes and how the power to use them gets distributed.
