Apparently the only person injured is the suspect.

Subways shut down, streets closed, local media telling everyone not to come to Manhattan because subway and surface public transport is snarled. Surface streets are also gridlocked, so cabs and uber aren't an option either.

So the police overreaction will cause NYC a huge economic cost.

Metro north into Grand Central working fine too
I am on a Lexington Avenue express going downtown as I write this.

NJ transit diverted to Newark or Secaucus, and then you take PATH to the city.

Depending on how soon they sort this out and reopen mass transit and the streets, this is going to make people very wary about going into Manhattan for the Holidays.

It's reported that the injuries to the suspect aren't severe enough to prevent the suspect from speaking.

It's not known yet if the explosive went off prematurely or if this was the intended location for his bomb.
