Today's Bloom County toon brought tears to my eyes...

Please forgive me -- I cannot get it from FB to DU with my iPad and limited skill. But Berk has been evacuated too, and is posting from a Motel 6. Opus has gone out for a Christmas tree...

I'm crossing my fingers that someone can post it here. It made me puddle up.

Thank you

Currently standing in line waiting for a shuttle to our neighborhood. Many people. Many volunteers handing out relief supplies. The staging area is the parking lot of Temple Beth Torah. I see friends volunteering. Yes, there are good people among us.

I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with all of the horror from the fires. It’s comforting to know you’re experiencing kindness from those around you.

Stay safe.

The NICU sounds like a nice, safe place if he's still there, but of course he should be home with his parents.

So glad to hear your home still remains okay.

I don’t know if she’s staying in SB herself or going with them.

This fire is a monster.

Here's a bit of a smile from CNN.com if you haven't run across it already:

The Ojai Raptor Center, a wildlife rehabilitation facility north of Ventura that specializes in birds of prey, released 14 birds shortly before the mandatory evacuation order came with the approach of the Thomas Fire this week, director Kimberly Stroud told CNN. "We just turned them loose," she said. "Their best possibility of survival is to be released and fly away."

As the fire raged, Spooky the barred owl, Sasquatch the red-tailed hawk, Handsome the turkey vulture and about 20 other "education" animals were placed in small crates to await the evacuation order, Stroud said. The "education" and "ambassador" birds are unable to fly because of injuries. They're used instead for educational purposes such as school visits. ...

After evacuating from Ojai this week, the 24 eagles, hawks, falcons, owls and other birds in crates found a temporary home in the dining room and garage of a volunteer near the beach in Ventura County. Stroud said her sister, two Great Danes and three cats also took up residence there.

Charlie Brown.

A tip to the late Charles Schultz whose home was lost in the No. Cal fires.
