President Donald Trump boasted of packed to the rafters crowds for his Friday night campaign rally in Pensacola, Florida. Photographic evidence from the arena venue for his speech tells a different tale, harkening back to inflated inauguration crowd claims.
Trump started the attendance debate by claiming a big crowd expected today in Pensacola in a Friday morning tweet. Trump followed that tweet with on claiming Alabama Democratic Party senate nominee Doug Jones is bad on Crime, Life, Border, Vets, Guns and Military. Vote Roy Moore!
-SNIP-
Early Saturday morning, President Trump returned to the subject of crowd sizes.
The internet disagreed that the crowd was big, packed to the rafters and really smart.

(9,527 posts)Granted the number of women who have accused him of doing those things makes that unlikely, but it's kind of amusing that basically the only things he doesn't like about - sexual assault, the Muslim ban, etc, are things that he would be better off lying about.

President Trump has made 1,628 false or misleading claims over 298 days
Washington Post, 11/14/2017
For some reason, our year-long project analyzing, categorizing and tracking every false or misleading claim by President Trump had seemed like quite a burden in the past month. Well, the numbers are in and now we know why: In the past 35 days, Trump has averaged an astonishing nine claims a day.
The total now stands at 1,628 claims in 298 days, or an average of 5.5 claims a day. That puts the president on track to reach 1,999 claims by the end of his first year in office, though he obviously would easily exceed 2,000 if he maintained the pace of the past month.

(49,022 posts)of the rally to see what the speakers preceding Trump were saying (this was after I'd seen and posted about a Ben Jacobs tweet reporting one speaker had said Trump's declaring Jerusalem the capital of Israel would lead to the Second Coming).
Anyway, I looked briefly at the RSBN (Right Side Broadcasting) YouTube livestream. They were panning around to show crowd size...and then just as they hit an empty section of seats, they quickly panned back across the seats that were filled. Just as you'd expect for Trump supporters.
anneboleyn
(5,611 posts)of seats then went back to the people directly behind Trump and keep that in a tight frame for the rest of the time. I muted it why these people turn out to listen to him repeat the EXACT SAME SPEECH OVER AND OVER AND OVER is beyond me. He literally repeats the same speech from over a year ago. Yeah, hell throw in a new sentence or two, but everything is just a repetition of his stupid election night stories and how the news got everything wrong except for the things he doesnt even mention anymore, like all the companies supposedly bringing jobs back (snort), Chiiiiiiiiiiiiina, his big panel of CEOs who were going to hand out jobs like candy (that one collapsed almost immediately after the dotard took office), Mexico paying for the wall, etc etc all of his obvious failures. Who wants to listen to that shit? I cant imagine why anybody shows up to these without being paid.

(58,724 posts)The photo with the green arrow - that person it's pointing to is not Trump.
Thor_MN
(11,843 posts)The resolution isn't good enough to say yes or no, but I'm curious why you say no so seemingly definitely.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)You will also note that he is wearing a bright red tie.
Thor_MN
(11,843 posts)The tweeted picture doesn't have enough resolution to say one way or the other, but the video is no proof. If I zoom in on the pic, the tie looks quite dark, but the lighting could account for that.
Doesn't really matter, but the video occurs after he is already on the stage, which does not prove the green arrow is wrong.

(36,327 posts)The guy behind the man pointed out by the green arrow and who appears to be wearing a open brown jacket, a white (t)shirt and ball cap.
Thor_MN
(11,843 posts)Maybe the guy pointed by the green arrow is Alec Baldwin dressed as Trump. I have no idea who it is, the resolution isn't good enough to prove one way or the other.
But Oberliner was so confident that it was not that I wondered why. The proffered video is no help. And the fact that the guy walking behind him appears to be dressed casually proves....., what?
Could be a local person that won a raffle to walk him to the stage. Could be an arena employee to make sure he finds the stage and not wander into the parking lot. Could be the buddy of a guy that superficially lots like Trump and they are headed out on a beer run.
Kaleva
(36,327 posts)I can't recall pics of other events suggesting that 'casual Friday' was the dress code of the day.
Look at the pics here in this article. Larry the Cable Guy is gone and the men near Trump are well dressed:

"OK, I get it, you are supporting Dolt45's claim of "Full to the rafters""
You won't be able to find a single post of mine that would support your accusation. The argument being made here in this thread was that the auditorium was mostly empty. News reports and pictures show that not to be the case.
Thor_MN
(11,843 posts)That would be supporting Dolt45's claim that the arena was "full to the rafters".

(43,189 posts)The picture looks out to the opposite side, which was sparsely filled. Theyre going to want to have the side behind him filled because thats where the cameras are pointed.
Although from the brief shots I saw, even the side behind the podium looked filled on the lower tier only. Looked like there were plenty of empty seats on the upper tier.
Kaleva
(36,327 posts)If you look at the pic at the bottom of the article I linked to, they are filled.
You can spot a small Christmas tree to the extreme left of the walkway to the podium. Note the difference in filled seats between the two pictures.
