This absolute railroading of Franken.

It makes me cynically suspicious and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
This is not good for our party.
What is the endgame here?

I will never support either of them for anything ever!

(16,439 posts)I'm the guy who usually tells everyone at work it's going to fine when there's a problem people get freaked out about. We'll get through it. Tomorrow we will be better. etc. I knew Obama "had this" during some of his toughest moments in 2008, and during his presidency. I spent two hours talking my sobbing wife through her pain on election night. I told her about Kamala Harris and Gillibrand and others who might some day offer her hope.
But now, I just dunno what the end game is anymore. I'm disillusioned with our leadership. I think they lack the fortitude to handle the current crop of Trumpublicans who are savage to their core. And our culture has become so dumbed down, I have no faith in the silent majority to stand up and put an end to this in 2018 or 2020. We are in a very dark place, fighting for the soul of our democracy and i feel like we are losing badly.

(6,254 posts)I used to think Mueller was the answer. Now I think Mueller can have video of Trump committing treason and Trumpanzees dont care and nothing will happen. With Rs support of Moore all hope of decency is gone. Only a win in 2018 will help us now.

(16,869 posts)My wife and I were in tears election night. The next morning we woke up early to explain to our kids what had happened and to admonish them, no matter how upset they were not to show it in school...we live in a very red suburb of a blue island in a very red state. We promised them that there were people who would stand up and fight against Trump. While that part is partially true, it seems that Dems are all to willing to fall back on the standard practice of eating our own while refusing to stand up strongly against the GOP out of fear of being labeled as liberal or not bipartisan. Im quickly losing hope that those in the current leadership of the Democratic Party share our same goals of resistance.

The alarmism and doomsaying in here isn't sufficiently off the chain; we need to have kookisms peddled now too.

(2,853 posts)they want. Schumer is as much to blame as anyone that called for Franken to resign. They are all welcoming back Sen. Bob Menendez from a hung jury in his corruption trial. Why? Because they want to keep his corrupt ass in the Senate because if they ask him to resign then Chris Christie gets to pick his successor. Which would be a republican. They'd lose a seat. This is dirty politics because they know that the Minnesota governor will pick a democrat so they have nothing to lose seat-wise but they gain someone that they will be more able to control. Al Franken was knifed in the back by his own colleagues. As the saying goes, with friends like these who needs enemies.

Holy shit.
I cant believe any thinking person goyim or otherwise would even say something like that? Anniversary of reunification? Fuck that.
But apparently the (relevant) stars have aligned Saudi coup, Syrian revolution, who knows what in Lebanon, dismantling of Iraq and Libya, Jordanian complacency, Egyptian complacency (aided by multiple Hamas and ISIS attacks), Iranian marginalization, Trump-Russia collusion...
The pieces are finally all there.
