If Franken resigns he should immediately announce to run in the special election to replace himself


He'd be putting it back into the hands of the voters.

When he comes back in (he'd win) he'd be stronger than ever before and fully vetted.

He mustn't just go away. Al Franken is one of our best.

Even if Minnesota has no such statute on its laws, then he could see if his constituents--remember? the people who put him there in the first place?--still want him around. I feel rather confident they will.

If he resigns and places himself before the voters, that is democracy.

If the Democratic Senators don't support him now they will 100% if his voters re-elect him, as I think they would.
