If Franken is forced to resign...

If Franken is forced to resign (which is pretty much a given at this point), it will be an unmitigated disaster for Democratic candidates and officials in the future. Basically, the Democratic party just said it will accept no misconduct of any nature (not unreasonable in itself), but, more importantly, will accept any allegations of misconduct as truthful based on the flimsiest of evidence and even by anonymous accusers! Geez, there is NO FUCKING WAY that could possibly backfire! /s

A possible scenario for the not-so-distant future:

Ratfucker-in-chief Roger Stone assembles a team of fine, white, Christian ladies (note: 50% of white women voted for Trump, but 5-6 women will do nicely). Their mission: take down Jon Tester.

Campaign season is ramping up and Jon is holding rallies all over Montana. Naturally, being a man of the people, Jon will – no doubt- have photo ops during these rallies. Our team of Republican girls start visiting this rallies and try to get a pic taken with Jon. Afterwards, they privately complain to friends and family how Jon totally copped a feel! That rascal! Around two to three weeks before the election, one girl approaches a second rate media site (lets say Jezebel or Politico. Not the WaPo, they ask too many questions...) with a sob story about Jon grabbing her ass. No, there are no direct witnesses, but she totally told friends and family right after! Here are their numbers! And Facebook post too!

Our reporter, fancying himself the next Bob Woodward or Carl Bernstein, plops the story on the site. Jon naturally denies the allegations, but well, there's a photo of him with the girl and we have indirect witnesses. And why would she lie? A few days later, second girl comes forward: “I didn't want to say anything, but now that I've heard that Senator Tester did the same with other women, I MUST come forward!”. Such a brave paragon of feminist justice! Another picture corroborating that she met with Tester and here too are friends and family backing her up! A few days later, in comes girl number three... Drip, drip, drip... Can you feel the heat, Jon? By this time, liberal bloggers are already calling him to resign. Sure, that would throw the seat to the Repubs, but the moral high ground is it's own reward. Girl number four, girl number five come forward... And now Jon's colleagues are starting to call for his resignation...

Checkmate Jon.

He is allowing fellow Dems to call for his resignation once they knew it was a done deal.
