I do not for one minute believe Mitt Romney's public "condolences" for the families of the victims of the Aurora theater shooting. The shooting and the resulting political and media cease-fire is the best thing that could have possibly happened for him. Anyone who thinks that the GOP isn't taking full advantage of the situation is absolutely kidding themselves. This isn't a football game, it's a war. A real war. In disaster situations like this, conservatives have again and again throughout US history pulled off their most damaging stuff while the public is in a state of shock.

(114,904 posts)What I see is YOU fucking trying to take political advantage of this tragedy, honey. And in my book, that makes you no different than them.

(1,054 posts)Thanx for that insight, cali...
In MY book, your 'reasoning' here makes you no different from them OR us... in other words, we are ALL alike, the good, the bad, the ugly... and it's all everyone's fault, particularly the OP...
Whatever. In fact, whateverandever amen.
BTW, The Shock Doctrine is an excellent documentary, and well worth the time.

Some people prefer to remain ignorant though, illusions are important to them.

(2,431 posts)Cali: As a common American citizen with almost no money and definitely no connections, I am personally in no position whatsoever to take political advantage of anything.
Perhaps if you were to actually watch the film, you would see that the point I make is valid.
EDIT: It is also important you understand that I am not attempting to insult you or make light of your feelings about the horrible human tragedy that occurred on Friday. It is very emotionally uncomfortable to think that any human being would use shocking, even catastrophic events for their own gain. The Shock Doctrine, featuring Naomi Wolf, provides example after example showing that yes, some people do exploit these events. And they do it again and again because they can.

(2,431 posts)Did you watch the film or did you see the three dissenting responses to your post, feel ganged-up on, and bail to another thread where people agree with you?
I hope for the former, but I suspect the latter; if there's one constant about liberals, it's that they are incredibly easy to divide and conquer.
BTW: I heard Mittens bought a whole mass of fake followers on Twitter. On Friday. When his campaign figured no-one was paying attention. http://www.politicususa.com/mitt-romney-busted-buying-twitter-followers.html
