Is it possible Obama has played Trump on Flynn - from the get go...?

Way back in May, I posted this thread/idea - which is now looking even more like the case.

Were the Russia sanctions a dogwhistle for corrupt Trumpists?

Now - I'm wondering if they already had the dirt on Flynn - and for the strongest case - they wanted to make sure Trump made Flynn part of his cabinet.

What better way to ENSURE that outcome than to have Obama tell him to stay away from Flynn!

All part of the setup!

Obama would not have done such a thing. He was overly cautious, and very respectful of the law. He wouldn't try subterfuge against his successor.

I was thinking of it more in the context of an investigation - but yeah - thats a bit too much like a setup.

What about the other notion - that the sanctions were a dogwhistle?

That's less subterfuge-ish...less direct.

But I'll bet Obama's team was ready for Trump to push back. And, of course, he did

The sanctions were for hacking, correct?

Not just punishment - but also part of the ongoing investigation.

that was part of my speculation - since it seemed to work!

Apparently, they warned Trump. However, President Obama is a believer in the "One President at a time" tradition. He provided a warning. Trump did not take it, so Obama more or less said, "Please proceed President Trump..."

Hands off appears to be his style with the Trump Administration. Now, if he is called to testify, I'm sure he will be candid and truthful in his testimony. But, for now, he's letting Trump deal with things on his own. Trump is the current President, after all.

but I don't think Obama would do this. I do believe he distributed evidence of Russian interference and Trump's collusion to various intelligence agencies to protect it from disappearing.
