Being civil and using reason is a BIG mistake.

The Trump campaign and his "administration" have been little more than a "Gish Gallop" on steroids. They have continuously shoveled so much BS so quickly and packed so many vulgar outrages into each news cycle that they have induced either outrage fatigue or paralyzing indecision in most of us. So, let's stop even trying to "reason" with friends, relatives, neighbors, or strangers in the checkout lane when they spew support for him or attack his critics. Try this"

"Bullshit! Trump is a lying incompetent crook and traitor! IMPEACH HIM NOW!"

"But, he's going to Make America---"

"BULLSHIT! IMPEACH HIM NOW!"

"But, what about---"

"BULLSHIT! IMPEACH HIM NOW!"

Repeat as necessary. You'll accomplish much more than trying to "discuss" politics with them.

I'm very serious when tell them to STFU until they've reached a 3rd grade reading and comprehension level. The time for humor is over. These supporters are fucking idiots and I call them that to their faces with no laughter, comic relief, etc. I usually end with something about feeding/clothing/housing their grandparents they just fucked. Pardon my language but BP is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay high.

Take "prolifers" for example. They weep crocodile tears about the poor "unborn children" yet they fight relentlessly against any effort to improve any life, whether preborn or born. They are looking you in the eye and lying through their teeth, daring you to call them on it.

Imagine you're out shopping with a friend and the "friend" picks up a valuable item, slips it into his coat pocket, and winks at you. That person is being a shit: prevailing on your friendship to keep you from ratting him out to the store detective. Same way, the people that get all lugubrious about how we must elect a confessed pedophile to save the unborn babies are shits. They're looking you in the eye and betting you'll shrink away from the dilemma that they tossed into your lap.

Fuck 'em.

I like being quiet and mysterious in my very conservative workplace. My politics are carefully hidden. It's been fun to watch the Trump bubble deflating among the R voters. They're not nearly as loud and proud as they were one year ago.
