CNN: Trump lawyer says Trump's tweet is just a "paraphrase" of Ty Cobb's statement:

It's being reported on CNN that Trump lawyer John Dowd has released a statement saying that Trump's tweet is a paraphrase of Ty Cobb's statement from yesterday.

Trump's tweet:

"I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!"

Cobb's statement:

“The false statements involved mirror the false statements to White House officials which resulted in his resignation in February of this year,” Cobb continued. “Nothing about the guilty plea or the charge implicates anyone other than Mr. Flynn. The conclusion of this phase of the Special Counsel's work demonstrates again that the Special Counsel is moving with all deliberate speed and clears the way for a prompt and reasonable conclusion.”

...but when your client is practically admitting liability at random moments 24/7, hoo boy! I'd love to know Ty Cobb's billing basis and what he's racking up.

I get to a point sometimes where all I can do is say, "Hey, you wanted legal advice, you got legal advice. It's advice, like anything else. Like your Mom telling you to wear a jacket because its a little chilly outside. You don't want to wear that jacket? That's fine with me and it was fine with Mom too, but if you don't wear it and catch a cold, then she's gonna have to deal with that too. That's all."
