and I mean a simple majority in both chambers, no more bullshit about hiding behind the skirts of a GOP filibuster?
Republicans have done great harm to our country and their party, but Democrats will blow their chance to fix things if they get back in and play by the old rules.
They should have figured this out in 2006 after the Bush years and even eight years of the GOP talking about Bill Clinton's dick.
Every time Democrats gain power and refuse to put the stake in the GOP vampire, the Republicans come backer meaner, stupider, and more dangerous to democracy.
Stop fucking around, Democrats!
There is no excuse for voting for GOP foreign, trade, economic, regulatory and other policies.
There is no excuse for rummaging through the Heritage Foundation archives to find your policy proposals.
We need a party for the working and middle class, for labor and educators, not just for hedge fund managers and trust fund babies, and certainly not one that gives the very wealthy veto power over the rest of us.

(39,405 posts)Since the Democratic Party has pulled to the right in the late 80's, they have held Congress less often and with smaller margins than they did from New Deal era through Reagan.
And in some ways, Democrats letting Reagan have his way foreshadowed the shift to the right and the beginning of Democrats as the Washington Generals to the GOP's Globetrotters.
Democratic politicians have to quit shitting on their base to please big donors and stop making excuses when they have the power to pass progressive policies and choose not to.
Once elected, Democrats need to work as hard and push the rules to the limit to do as much good as Republicans do to do harm.

(39,405 posts)The Republicans will run ads accusing the Dems of planning to raise taxes on Joe and Jane America which will make the Dems soil their collective trousers and backtrack on repealing the tax cuts.

(7,349 posts)My reps are Tammy Baldwin and Mark Pocan. Tammy, especially, will and already is battling mega attack ads by the Koch bros and their dark money. If you can spare a few bucks throw it her way, please.
The one I'll be throwing my support for but can't cast a ballot for is Randy Bryce to defeat Lyin' Ryan. Not my district but I'll sure work to get his name out there!
Randy Bryce, Randy Bryce, Randy Bryce!

I was just thinking of the Dems don't do it, we might end up with a third party? Like a 99% Party.
I know that might piss off a lot of folks here who feel the best way is to hold the line as Dems
But I feel we need to clean house, put in people who AREN"T lifers and career politicians

Oh and Midterms is the key here! If we don't gain control, we're more than doomed.

(39,405 posts)and if they pick up the right salad fork, Republicans will play nicely.
Corporate Democrats like to say you can't bring a spoon to a knife fight, but what they haven't figured out is you can't use any of your silverware to stab your base in the back.
