KS governor refuses health care money but wants help with drought relief

Hypocrite isn't a strong enough word.

TOPEKA -- Gov. Sam Brownback has asked for federal disaster declarations for 37 more counties hit by drought, heat, high winds and wildfires.

The governor's office said Friday he has asked the U.S. Department of Agriculture to declare 37 more counties disasters, making farmers there eligible for USDA disaster assistance programs.

The request includes Atchison, Brown, Chase, Cherokee, Clay, Cloud, Dickinson, Doniphan, Douglas, Ellis, Ellsworth, Franklin, Geary, Jackson, Jefferson, Jewell, Johnson, Leavenworth, Lincoln, Marion, Miami, Mitchell, Morris, Nemaha, Osage, Osborne, Ottawa, Pottawatomie, Republic, Riley, Rush, Russell, Saline, Shawnee, Smith, Wabaunsee and Wyandotte.

If the 37 are approved, that would mean 103 of the state's 105 counties are primary federal disaster areas. The two that are not, Marshall and Washington, border primary counties and would receive disaster declarations as contiguous counties.

No money for Kansas's drought until they take the Medicaid money. The feds are not obligated to provide that money, after all.

move in and open disaster relief medical centers in every county. Free medicine for all.

Then, when the rains come, ask Kansans if they want them closed or not.

Federal aid and the farm bill have been providing welfare checks to them for over 70 years but yet they hate Democrats/New Deal programs/Roosevelt/easterners/blue states and poor people with a passion.

The reddest counties got the most aid.

Go figure.

Also one of the most rabid conservatives I know comes from a family that is the recipient of the largest check in their county in central Kansas.

but wants federal disaster relief because of crashing king salmon stocks, while he still pushes for all the offshore oil drilling he can and the horrendous Pebble Mine project. They're all schizo.

due to the drought. Difference between Brownback and Nixon is that Nixon wants the money for both. He's ok with the health care act-it's the backwoods reps who are not.
