How The Senate GOP Got The Votes To Overhaul The Tax Code And Strike A Blow To Obamacare

By ALICE OLLSTEIN Published DECEMBER 2, 2017 6:47 AM

In the wee hours of Saturday, after working for hours to rewrite major sections of the bill behind closed doors, the GOP-controlled Senate voted 51 to 49 to pass a bill overhauling the American tax code, exploding the deficit and gutting a key piece of the Affordable Care Act. The Senate passage advances the bill to a conference with the House, where its differences with a version passed before Thanksgiving must be hammered out.

Senators told TPM on Friday that a combination of late night wrangling, horse-trading, and promises for future votes secured the support of enough senators to get the bill across the finish line.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), who just a few days ago threatened to withhold his vote over concerns the bill will blow at $1 trillion hole in the federal deficit, announced Friday morning that he had been won over with a promise from the Trump administration not to pass a fix for undocumented young people stripped of legal protections, but to simply include him in future negotiations on the topic.

“They committed to move forward with me and work with me on it,” he told reporters.

Jeff Flake is so full of shit it is just remarkable how truly fucked up in the head he really is.................he wants to be at the table with a narcissistic psychopath who abuses woman and now children to "not pass a fix" for undocumented children-----------how fucking cold blooded is that?

in our government want millions of us sick, seniors, old vets, Social Security recipients to just die and go away so they can fill their personal coffers and the already overflowing coffers of the very rich in ameriKKKa. I am glad of one thing here, the evil that has always been right under the surface veneer of our so-called democracy has broken through to show just how diseased this system is. I agree with

How this bill was drafted in darkness, with no light shown on it till it was passed is proof of the TOTAL corruption of our system of governing. I am a vet on Medicare, Social Security and veteran benefits with serious health problems. Bye, bye and to tell the truth I can now honestly say fuck you ameriKKKa, not glad to have known you.

...what we know is that every single "partner" who has cut a deal with Trump has been f'cked. At every level. What I have yet to see is a trump business partner stand up and say "damn - I glad I did that deal with him...he made us so much money".

Republicans must know that you can't trust him as far as you can throw a grand piano but still...they trust that he'll include them, hear their concerns, give them consideration.

They are such asshats.
