I haven't been following along on this particular subject. How likely is it to pass? How can the Democrats block it, if they can? What strategy can the Republicans use to get it passed? Are there Republican factions in either house opposed to either version and can the Democrats exploit that? Which version is better (meaning least shitty), and a there any roadblocks to the reconciliation of the two bills? Sorry about all the questions but just want to know what we're up against.
Thanks.

(7,309 posts)How often have "tax breaks" been repealed?
I hate to be a downer, but this just seems to be too egregious to let pass in the first place. Which version is the least destructive, by the way?

(25,349 posts)the last time major "tax breaks" were repealed was to pay for WWII.
Technically, tax breaks weren't repealed, but taxes were significantly raised.
But that was a different time, when both parties were concerned about debt and long term "deficit spending" would have been seen as detrimental to the economy.
Eventually, Reagan endorsed deficit spending.

(7,309 posts)... working with a foreign adversary can get this thing passed simply because he hates Obama.
This is a fucking travesty, from what I heard of the bill. I thought deficits mattered to Republicans?

The reason to raise deficits is to get rid of the New Deal
They will gut social programs if we don't get out and vote them out of office
