You know he just knew where all this came from. Explains Michelle's face at the 'inauguration'.

President Barack Obama took unprecedented steps Thursday to retaliate against alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election, prompting vows from Russian authorities that Moscow will respond in kind.
The administration described Russia's involvement as "Significant Malicious Cyber-Enabled Activities" and sanctioned four Russian individuals and five Russian entities for what it said was election interference. The administration also ordered 35 Russian diplomats to leave the country and two Russian compounds are being closed.

(47,108 posts)He full well knew what Putin was doing to the US.
I think Obama was thinking something like this:
Putin, you stupid evil mother f____, I vow that we will defeat your ass and hand
it to you on a platter.

(1,019 posts)President Obama looks furious and steadfast like committed to good and right things. To stare down evil Vlad in that way is amazing.

(47,108 posts)I don't think Obama gets furious often, but when he does, I think it is something to behold.
And yes he was furious and steadfast.

(51,597 posts)but also asked him what he was doing to prevent the electoral college from confirming fake president elect before it was confirmed. I wish he had spoken up and done more. Yet I also know he was stuck between a rock and a hard place since he didn't want to be accused of influencing the election in favor of the Dems. He also believed that Hillary would win. A friend assumed the same and wrote "B. Sanders" on her ballot. Lesson learned...never assume.

(16,387 posts)Were just now getting something of a clear picture of what has happened, and that only came after months and months of investigation and evidence gathering. Theres no way he could have known in July or August or November 2016 what we know now.
Like you said, hindsight is easy.

former admin was said to be afraid to be too political/perhaps too confident in a democratic succesor
democratic gov rod b was arrested in his home, charged with trying to "sell" a senate seat, tried in the media by releasing private remarks, and convicted by bush's justice department on the second try....there was way more known in the late summer before the election about trump and the repubs than bush ever had on our il gov
just the sudden change in the repub platform should of been enough to open an investigation considering manaford's history....
he was the executive branch, and on his watch the repub party conspired with a foreign government to takeover all 3 branches of government so i stand by my wish....that he would been more forceful

(24,128 posts)It is a very unusual time, but the mechanisms of our government seem to be working!
My youngest daughter is 29, and I took her to see Obama when he campaigned here during his first run for president. She was so excited when he won.
This is so freaky, even for an old lady like me, but it's a historic time too. Please never forget it. We're so lucky to have a government built the way that it is, so lucky to have a free press. Study it as much as you can--read as many books about it as you can.
