Nothing to See, my Conservative Friends Explained to me

I’m vaguely amused by my conservative friends’s response to Flynn’s guilty plea.

One of them just screamed “there is NO Trump/Russia connection!! Only stupid liberals believe that!” Nothing at all about the actual guilty plea.

Another explained that the real problem is the ease by which federal prosecutors can secure convictions. “We’re all guilty of federal felonies”, he assured me. “The important thing is that nothing in the guilty plea shows hard evidence of any this supposed collusion I have yet to see proof of. Likely Flynn is doing what he had to to save himself from having his life ruined by overzealous prosecution.”

That’s law and order conservatism for you. When in doubt, attack the prosecutor and the system.

Another sent me three emails about how liberal apologists for Islam were seeding a future Civil War. He did say “if you guys get President Pence, which seems to be what you’re desperate for, you’ll be sorry!”

I fully expect most conservatives would defend Trump if he was caught on camera shooting someone. How do we know that? Well, Trump pretty much said just that...

Yeah, that does sound like what someone I cited above told me. He probably got it from Limbaugh.

That is their FAVORITE talking point. And you and I know perfectly well that there is nothing out there - NOTHING IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM UP TO AND INCLUDING FULL CONFESSIONS AND "HERE'S HOW I DID IT" STATEMENTS - that would EVER compel them to accept it as proof.

NOTHING.

PERIOD.

Instead these assholes will just smugly shake their heads:

"Nope, that's not proof. Nope, try again. Uh-uh. Nope, No, no, no, doesn't count, not real, totally fake. Didn't happen. Means nothing. Nuh-uh. Nope, that's not proof. Nope, try again. Uh-uh. Nope, No, no, no, doesn't count, not real, totally fake. Didn't happen. Means nothing. Nuh-uh. Nope, that's not proof. Nope, try again. Uh-uh. Nope, No, no, no, doesn't count, not real, totally fake. 5. At this point...

At this point, understatement is probably the best response.

When I get the conservative hem and haw - “nothing happened! I see nothing!” - I now say “generally, it’s not a good sign when your National
Security Adviser pleads guilty to federal crimes.”

.... the response I'm sure would be "someone got to him and this is all a fabrication." Spin all they want, they can't make a guilty plea go away. It'd be one thing if he pled not guilty and was convicted - then of course it would all be a conspiracy.

I don't really care what these losers think or say anyhow; I care about the undecideds they're always attempting to pollute with their BS.

He meant every citizen was guilty of federal felonies. Had this rap about how not following a website instruction could be construed as computer crime.

I wasn’t aware not following website instructions was comparable to lying to a law enforcement agency conducting an investigation, but that’s probably why I’m not a conservative.

11. I fully expect a sizable number of Americans will never be convinced
Fri Dec 1, 2017, 08:46 PM

I’m sure a huge portion of Americans will go to their graves thinking that allegations of impropriety by the Trump campaign were a colossal liberal scam dreamed up by Obama’s people in ‘16 as a way of knocking Trump down if he won the election.

It’s nutty and dumb, but so are most conspiracy theories. It’s not even the nuttiest thing I’ve heard about the ongoing Trump investigations either ; I know one guy who thinks Trump and Mueller are actually allies, that Trump hired Manafort as a sacrificial pawn to get an investigation started, and that what he and Mueller are really interested in doing is stopping “globalist” pedophile rings. He claims Mueller is sitting on dozens of sealed indictments of mostly Democratic pedophile-politicians and that when Trump is ready, Mueller will take down the Democrats.

I’d tell him not to hold his breath, but honestly, he’s incapable of seeing truth, like most conservative conspiracists.
