This would be a "otherwise cheerful orchard in the evening" set, where the protagonist's girlfriend becomes overcome with despair and eventually madness when he's hours late for their rendezvous.

The night-time lighting probably makes it look spookier than it really is.

It would be a good set for an avant-garde opera - maybe something like Schönberg's Erwartung, which is about a woman who is wandering alone in the forest at night, when she stumbles on the corpse of her lover. It gradually becomes probable that she is the one who killed him.



Christmas? Not so much.
